The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has outlined an ambitious roadmap to significantly increase tourist arrivals from India, targeting 270,000 Indian visitors by 2026. This announcement reflects South Korea’s growing focus on India as a key outbound travel market with strong long-term potential.
According to KTO officials, India has emerged as one of the fastest-growing source markets for international travel. Recognising this trend, the organisation is intensifying its efforts to build deeper engagement with Indian travellers through a mix of strategic initiatives and partnerships. A major part of this strategy includes expanding its reach beyond metro cities and tapping into Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, where demand for international travel is steadily rising.
To attract Indian tourists, KTO is promoting diverse experiences that align with evolving travel preferences. These include Korean cultural tourism driven by the global popularity of K-pop and K-dramas, wellness and beauty tourism, and premium leisure experiences. Officials also highlighted ongoing efforts to simplify visa procedures, making travel to South Korea more seamless and convenient for Indian visitors.
In addition, KTO is strengthening collaborations with airlines, travel agents, and digital platforms to enhance connectivity and improve accessibility. Increased flight connectivity between India and South Korea is expected to play a crucial role in achieving the targeted growth.
The organisation is also positioning South Korea as a preferred destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. With dedicated support programs and infrastructure, Korea aims to attract more corporate groups and international business events from India.
Overall, KTO’s strategy underscores a long-term vision to establish South Korea as a compelling destination for Indian travellers, combining cultural appeal, ease of travel, and business opportunities to drive sustained growth.
