Indian tourists will be granted visa-free entry into Thailand for six months beginning November 10. This modification is intended to attract more travelers, especially as the peak tourism season approaches.
Arrivals from India and Taiwan would be allowed to stay in Thailand for 30 days, according to spokesman Chai Wacharonke. With nearly 1.2 million tourists, India has surpassed Malaysia, China, and South Korea as Thailand’s fourth-largest source market for tourism this year.
Thailand had already eliminated visa requirements for Chinese tourists, a major source of visitors with 11 million visits in 2019. According to the most recent government figures, Thailand received a total of 22 million visitors from January to October 29, contributing 9275 billion baht (about $25.67 billion) to the country’s economy.
Inbound tourism from India is increasing as more airlines and hospitality chains target this market. The government’s objective for this year is approximately 28 million tourist arrivals, with the hope that the travel sector will help offset the persistent downturn in exports that has been limiting economic growth.
