Air India Express is set to make aviation history by operating the first international flight from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), with direct services to Abu Dhabi commencing on 15 July 2026. The launch marks a major milestone in the airport’s phased expansion and the beginning of overseas operations from India’s newest international gateway.
The inaugural international flight is scheduled to depart from Navi Mumbai at 2:55 AM, making Air India Express the first carrier to connect the airport with an overseas destination. Initially, the airline will operate two weekly flights on Wednesdays and Fridays, with services increasing to three weekly frequencies from 29 July, adding a Sunday operation to meet anticipated demand.
The new route strengthens connectivity between the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and the United Arab Emirates, one of India’s most important international travel markets. The service is expected to benefit travellers from Navi Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and surrounding regions, offering a convenient alternative to the city’s primary airport while reducing travel time to international departures.
Navi Mumbai International Airport began commercial domestic operations on 25 December 2025 and has rapidly expanded its network and passenger traffic. The introduction of international passenger services and cargo operations represents the next phase of the airport’s development as a major aviation hub for western India.
Bookings for the Navi Mumbai–Abu Dhabi service are already open through Air India Express’ website, mobile application and major travel booking platforms. The airline expects the route to serve both business and leisure travellers while supporting growing economic, tourism and cultural links between India and the UAE.
With this launch, Navi Mumbai International Airport takes a significant step toward establishing itself as a key international gateway, enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the long-term growth of India’s aviation sector.
