Air India has announced the resumption of its non-stop flights between Delhi and Rome starting 25 March 2026, marking the airline’s return to the Italian capital after nearly six years of suspension following the COVID-19 pandemic.
The airline will operate the route four times a week-on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays-connecting Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi) with Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport (Rome). The service will be operated using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, offering 18 Business Class flat-bed seats and 238 Economy Class seats.
The relaunch is part of Air India’s strategy to expand its European network and strengthen connectivity between India and Italy, supporting tourism, trade, and business travel. The route will also provide passengers from Italy convenient connections to several destinations in South Asia and Southeast Asia via Delhi, Air India’s growing international hub.
Industry observers say the direct service is expected to boost tourism and business exchanges between the two countries, while offering travellers a faster and more convenient option compared to connecting flights.
