Minor Hotels, the international hotel owner and operator, has confirmed plans to launch its Anantara brand in South America with a new property in Ushuaia, Argentina. The Anantara Ushuaia Patagonia Resort is scheduled to open in early 2028 in the world’s southernmost city, positioned where the dramatic Andes Mountains converge with the icy waters of the Beagle Channel.
The new-build waterfront resort is a joint venture with Argentine development group Fideicomiso Urbanización Monte Susana. It will feature 60 guest rooms and suites, a spa and wellness facility at sea level, and destination-focused dining options. The project is situated within the Costa Susana master plan, a development adjacent to Tierra del Fuego National Park.
A significant element of the development is its focus on environmental responsibility. The Costa Susana scheme has been recognized as Argentina’s first carbon-neutral real estate project and has received a nomination in the World Architecture Festival’s Landscape and Environment category. The property is intended to integrate luxury hospitality with local environmental standards and community engagement.
Ushuaia itself is a prominent travel hub, often called the “End of the World.” It functions as a gateway for cruises to Antarctica and other South American ports. The resort’s location will offer guests straightforward access to local attractions, including nearby ski resorts, the historic End of the World Train, and the vast wilderness of the Tierra del Fuego National Park. The opening marks a strategic step for Minor Hotels in expanding its brand footprint into remote, high-impact travel destinations.
