British Airways Expands Operations in India to Strengthen Tourism and Business Ties

British Airways is set to enhance its presence in India, aiming to bolster tourism and business travel between the UK and India. The airline plans to introduce a third daily flight between London Heathrow and Delhi in 2026, subject to regulatory and capacity approval. Additionally, British Airways will reintroduce its First Class service on flights from London to Mumbai this month and roll out its new Club Suite business class on select flights across all five Indian routes by the end of 2026.

This expansion aligns with the UK’s “Britain Means Business” trade mission to India, led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Approximately 130 UK CEOs and senior government ministers are participating in this mission, emphasizing the strengthening of economic ties between the two nations. The Free Trade Agreement signed between Prime Minister Starmer and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in July is expected to further boost trade and business opportunities.

Sean Doyle, Chairman and Chief Executive of British Airways, expressed enthusiasm about the airline’s role in facilitating increased trade between the UK and India. He highlighted that British Airways has been operating in India for over 100 years and currently employs around 2,500 staff in the country. The airline operates 56 direct services to five Indian cities each week and plans to expand its network in response to growing trade and tourism demands.

The introduction of the third daily flight between London Heathrow and Delhi will provide passengers with more options and flexibility, whether traveling for business, leisure, or visiting family. The return of First Class on the London-Mumbai route and the introduction of the new Club Suite business class aim to enhance the travel experience for premium passengers.
