IndiGo is set to launch a new non-stop service between Gaya and Bangkok from 26 October 2026, creating a direct air link between Bihar and Thailand. The twice-weekly service is expected to make travel easier for tourists and pilgrims while strengthening international tourism connections for the region.

New Route to Improve Access to Bodh Gaya

The new service will operate every Monday and Thursday, connecting Gaya with Bangkok without the need for a connecting flight. IndiGo’s flight 6E 1083 will depart Gaya at 1:15 pm and arrive in Bangkok at 5:50 pm. The return service, 6E 1084, will leave Bangkok at 10:15 am and reach Gaya at 12:15 pm.

The direct connection is particularly important for travellers visiting Bodh Gaya, which is home to the Mahabodhi Temple and is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage destinations in the world. Thailand is among the key markets for Buddhist visitors travelling to the region.

The new route could make the journey more convenient for Thai travellers while also giving visitors from Bihar easier access to Bangkok and other destinations in Thailand.

Direct Connectivity Could Support Tourism Growth

Improved air connectivity can play an important role in attracting international visitors. With a direct flight available, more travellers from Thailand could consider visiting Bodh Gaya and other destinations across Bihar.

The new service could also benefit hotels, restaurants, tour operators, transport providers and other businesses that depend on international tourism. For local tourism stakeholders, better connectivity can make it easier to develop packages and experiences for overseas visitors.

The route also creates an opportunity for Bihar to strengthen its position in international travel markets and build stronger links with Southeast Asia.

Gaya Expands Its International Travel Network

The new service will add Gaya to IndiGo’s growing network between India and Thailand. The airline already operates services connecting Bangkok with several Indian cities, while direct flights also link India with destinations including Phuket and Krabi.

For Gaya, the addition of an international route could have a wider impact beyond pilgrimage tourism. Easier access can support leisure travel, group travel and business visits while giving international travellers another gateway to Bihar.

The Gaya-Bangkok service is therefore expected to strengthen air connectivity, support tourism businesses and create new opportunities for international travel between India and Thailand.
