Global cruise giant Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has unveiled plans for its upcoming flagship, Norwegian Aura, introducing an array of elevated dining, wellness, and entertainment offerings. The standout highlight aboard NCL’s largest ship to date is Tamara—the cruise line’s first-ever specialty restaurant fully dedicated to authentic Indian cuisine.
Part of the evolving Prima Plus Class, Norwegian Aura is scheduled to embark on its maiden voyage in May 2027.
Authentic Indian Gastronomy Inspired by Heritage Architecture
Located on Deck 8, Tamara builds on the popularity of Indian dishes originally served at the Indulge Food Hall on previous Prima Class vessels. The restaurant’s design draws direct inspiration from North Indian temples and courtyard architecture, featuring rich earth tones, intricate detailing, and an open kitchen anchored by live tandoor ovens.
The curated menu showcases diverse regional Indian flavors, featuring signature creations such as:
- Short-Rib Dosa served with tangy tomato sambar, fenugreek, and fresh coconut chutney
- Aromatic Lamb Biryani layered with aged basmati rice, warm spices, and caramelized onions
- Tableside Green Papaya Salad tossed with pomegranate seeds, tamarind, peanuts, jaggery, and chili
NCL President Marc Kazlauskas highlighted that Tamara was purposefully designed to give guests more choice, elevated culinary variety, and the freedom to enjoy their favorite global flavors at sea without compromise.
Immersive Tech Dining and Expansive Culinary Choices
Norwegian Aura will feature a total of 22 food and beverage venues spanning over 10 international cuisines. Alongside Tamara, the ship introduces The Panorama Room, a complimentary tech-driven venue that utilizes massive LED displays, multi-channel audio, and synchronized ambient lighting to deliver a dynamic, visual-rich dining experience.
Returning favorites such as Le Bistro, Cagney’s Steakhouse, Onda by Scarpetta, and Sukhothai will also receive expanded layouts.
Industry-Leading Wellness and Debut Itineraries
Beyond dining, the two-deck Mandara Spa will house an expansive Thermal Suite featuring 15 wellness amenities. Highlights include the Sensory Rain Pool—a 360-degree installation simulating tropical downpours and thunderstorms—alongside a Snow Cave, Finnish Sauna, Salt Room, and cold-plunge therapies.
Norwegian Aura will make its official debut on May 21, 2027, with a 7-day Mediterranean sailing from Trieste to Barcelona, followed by a transatlantic crossing to Miami for roundtrip Caribbean voyages.
