The global travel and tourism industry is set to gather in the Eternal City for a landmark event. From September 28-30, 2025, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will host its 25th Global Summit at Rome’s iconic Auditorium Parco della Musica. This high-profile event, in partnership with the Italian Ministry of Tourism, the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT), and the Municipality of Rome, will bring together industry leaders, government officials, and key stakeholders from around the world to shape the future of a sector that accounts for 10% of global GDP.

The summit’s agenda will focus on the most pressing issues and opportunities facing the industry. A major theme will be the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and its role in enhancing the traveler experience and optimizing business operations. Discussions will also address strategies for sustainable growth, investment opportunities, and the importance of fostering a more resilient and inclusive travel ecosystem. The event marks a significant return for the summit to Europe after a six-year hiatus, highlighting the continent’s pivotal role in the global tourism landscape.

A distinguished lineup of speakers has already been confirmed, including high-profile executives from leading travel and hospitality companies. Among them are Anthony Capuano, CEO of Marriott International; Jane Sun, CEO of Trip.com Group; and Elie Maalouf, Global CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts. The summit will also feature a key leadership transition, as current WTTC Chair Greg O’Hara hands over the role to Manfredi Lefebvre, Chairman of Heritage Group and co-chair of Abercrombie & Kent. This symbolic handover underscores a forward-looking vision for the organization.

The WTTC Global Summit is a platform for collaboration and bold commitments. It aims to not only discuss the industry’s future but to establish a roadmap for a decade of sustained, responsible growth. The choice of Rome as the host city provides a fitting backdrop, blending ancient history with a forward-thinking vision for travel and cultural exchange.
