The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality firm, has made a significant strategic move into the high-growth integrated wellness hospitality segment by acquiring a 51 per cent stake in Sparsh Infratech Private Limited, the owning company of the Atmantan Wellness Centre. This acquisition, which involved an investment of approximately โน240 crore (as per earlier reporting), marks IHCL’s formal entry into a dedicated wellness retreat model. The transaction is aimed at combining IHCL’s core expertise in luxury hospitality with Atmantan’s specialization in holistic wellness.
The move is viewed by industry analysts as a strategic effort to capture the burgeoning demand for comprehensive and holistic wellness experiences, a market segment that has accelerated globally in recent years. IHCL plans to leverage Atmantan’s established credentials to offer an integrated wellness experience that goes beyond standard hotel spa services. Atmantan’s programs already incorporate a multi-disciplinary approach, blending Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Yoga, Physiotherapy, and Chinese Medicine.
The acquisition provides IHCL with a platform to scale its integrated wellness offering, with plans to expand the concept both in India and overseas. This complements the company’s existing spa brand, J Wellness Circle. Atmantan Wellness Centre is located in Mulshi, near Pune, nestled in the Sahyadri mountains overlooking the Mulshi Lake. It is noted for its high standards, being both NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers) and GOLD LEED-certified for its sustainable practices.
Atmantan, whose name is derived from the fusion of Atma (Soul), Mana (Mind), and Tann (Body), offers personalized, result-oriented retreats. Its focus includes detoxification, stress management, weight loss, and disease reversal programs. The center is also recognized for its commitment to sustainability, utilizing solar energy for heating and featuring an advanced Solid Immobilized Bio-Filter (SIBF) sewage treatment plant, which facilitates the chemical-free reuse of water for landscaping. This acquisition signals a clear intent by IHCL to become a prominent player in the luxury wellness tourism sector, aligning with global trends toward experiential and health-focused travel.
