The Hong Kong Tourism Board has highlighted Indian tourists as top spenders in the city, with an average expenditure of HKD 9,139 (₹1 lakh) per person. The duration of their stay has also increased, from three days in 2018 to 4.5 days in 2024.

The city is now targeting a significant increase in Indian visitors. With 280,000 Indian tourists having visited Hong Kong in 2023, the aim is to double this number by the end of 2024. To achieve this, Hong Kong is organizing a series of festivals and events designed to attract more Indian travelers.

Puneet Kumar, Director for South Asia and the Middle East at the Hong Kong Tourism Board, stated, “We aim to double the number of Indian visitors this year. By the end of the first half of 2024, we welcomed 181,000 visitors from India, reaching 89% of pre-Covid levels.”
