Indonesia has taken a significant step toward advancing its tourism and M.I.C.E (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry through a strategic partnership between Travel Meet Asia and the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA). The collaboration aims to enhance Indonesia’s global visibility, strengthen domestic tourism networks, and unlock new international business opportunities.

The partnership was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Jakarta on 7 January, coinciding with ASITA’s 55th anniversary celebrations. The agreement highlights Indonesia’s long-term commitment to building a sustainable, high-quality, and globally competitive tourism and business events ecosystem.

By integrating Travel Meet Asia’s international B2B platform with ASITA’s extensive nationwide network, the initiative seeks to connect Indonesian tour operators and destination stakeholders with global buyers, event planners, and corporate travel professionals. This alignment is expected to boost Indonesia’s ability to attract international conferences, incentive travel programmes, and large-scale business events, while simultaneously promoting regional destinations beyond the main urban centres.

A strong focus of the partnership lies in knowledge exchange and capacity building. Through workshops, trade fairs, and targeted promotional activities, Indonesian tourism operators will gain exposure to global best practices, emerging travel trends, and evolving M.I.C.E requirements. This will help elevate service standards, improve operational efficiency, and enhance overall competitiveness.

Sustainability is another core pillar of the collaboration. Both organisations have emphasised responsible tourism practices, environmental consciousness, and cultural preservation to ensure long-term value creation for local communities and visitors alike.

Industry experts view this alliance as a timely and strategic move that positions Indonesia as a preferred destination for both leisure and business travel. By combining strong local expertise with global market access, the Travel Meet Asia–ASITA partnership is set to play a catalytic role in driving growth across Indonesia’s tourism and M.I.C.E landscape, reinforcing the country’s standing on the international stage.
