The Government of Jharkhand highlighted its vision for transforming the state into a leading tourism and investment destination during the National Stakeholders Consultation 2026 held at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi. The event brought together policymakers, tourism experts, industry leaders and investors to discuss strategies for accelerating tourism-led economic growth and sustainable development.
Addressing the session titled “Destination Jharkhand: Accelerating Tourism Investment and Inclusive Development,” Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar said the state aims to build a stronger identity based on its natural beauty, cultural heritage and tourism potential, alongside its traditional reputation as a mineral-rich region. He emphasized that tourism can generate large-scale employment through community participation, particularly by promoting homestays and local entrepreneurship.
Officials revealed that Jharkhand recorded nearly 58.5 million tourist visits in 2024, including around 44 million pilgrims, underscoring the state’s growing appeal. To further strengthen the sector, the government is preparing the proposed Tourism Policy 2026, Homestay Policy 2026, and a digital single-window registration system aimed at simplifying investment procedures and improving ease of doing business.
The consultation also showcased investment opportunities across hotels, resorts, ropeways, skywalks, water sports, houseboats, camping sites and eco-tourism projects. Officials highlighted that tourism infrastructure is being upgraded through central government initiatives such as PRASHAD and Swadesh Darshan while encouraging private sector participation through incentive-based policies.
The tourism roadmap forms part of Jharkhand’s broader Vision 2050 strategy, under which the state has attracted investment commitments worth nearly ₹87,000 crore across tourism, technology, digital infrastructure and other sectors. The government believes the integrated approach will enhance connectivity, create employment, attract private investment and position Jharkhand as one of India’s emerging tourism and economic hubs.
