Lemon Tree Hotels Limited has signed an agreement to open a new 80-room property in Bandipur, Nepal, marking a key step in its international expansion across South Asia. The hotel, managed by Carnation Hotels Private Limited, will offer modern amenities including a restaurant, bar, banquet and meeting spaces, a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre, enhancing hospitality options in this culturally rich hilltop destination.
Located in the Tanahun District between Kathmandu and Pokhara, Bandipur is celebrated for its well-preserved Newari architecture, scenic Himalayan views and cultural heritage. Elevated at around 1,030 metres and accessible via a 1,700-metre cable car, the new Lemon Tree property is expected to become a magnet for both business and leisure travellers seeking immersive and authentic experiences.
Lemon Tree’s expansion into Bandipur reinforces Nepal’s growing appeal as a global tourism destination, offering high-quality accommodation beyond established hubs. Until now, luxury hotel choices in regions outside Kathmandu and Pokhara were limited, but this signing fills a crucial gap in premium lodging and supports broader regional tourism growth.
The development aligns with global travel trends favouring experiential and off-the-beaten-path destinations, as more international visitors seek culturally rich and nature-driven experiences rather than traditional urban stays. Bandipur’s combination of historical charm and panoramic landscapes mirrors this shift towards immersive travel.
Hospitality experts note that quality infrastructure is a cornerstone of tourism growth. By introducing a branded hotel with extensive facilities in Bandipur, Lemon Tree Hotels not only enhances the destination’s attractiveness but also stimulates local economic activity. Increased visitor numbers typically boost demand for ancillary services such as local tours, dining, transport and retail- benefiting small businesses and creating employment opportunities.
The Bandipur project complements Lemon Tree’s expanding portfolio in Nepal, which includes properties in Kathmandu and Chitwan, emphasising the group’s commitment to strengthening its presence in key markets beyond India. With this latest signing, the company aims to cater to a broader mix of international and domestic travellers.
Strategically positioned in a destination known for balanced cultural immersion and natural beauty, the upcoming hotel is poised to attract visitors seeking unique travel experiences. Its panoramic Himalayan views, combined with thoughtfully designed amenities, underscore the evolving standards of hospitality in emerging destinations.
Overall, the expansion into Bandipur not only reinforces Lemon Tree Hotels’ regional footprint but also highlights Nepal’s rising prominence in the global travel landscape, where experiential tourism and authentic cultural encounters are increasingly driving travel decisions.
