New Delhi will host a visual showcase of Kerala’s landscapes and cultural diversity with the opening of the photo exhibition Lenscape Kerala at the Travancore Palace Art Gallery on January 20, 2026. Organised by the Kerala State Tourism Department, the exhibition presents 100 curated photographs captured by 10 leading travel and media photographers from across the country.
The exhibition aims to portray Kerala as a blend of natural beauty and cultural richness, featuring images of forests, hills, backwaters, wildlife, architecture, festivals, rural and coastal life, and spiritual spaces. Each participating photographer spent five days travelling through different regions of the state as part of the project, documenting a wide range of themes that reflect Kerala’s varied geography and social fabric.
Lenscape Kerala is curated by eminent art curator and critic Uma Nair, with renowned wildlife and conservation photographer Balan Madhavan serving as the director of photography. According to the organisers, the exhibition seeks to present Kerala through the photographers’ perspectives, capturing both well-known and lesser-seen aspects of the state.
Tourism Minister P A Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the exhibition. Following its New Delhi debut, Lenscape Kerala will travel to nine other cities across India, including major metros and state capitals, before concluding in Surat on March 31.
The initiative aligns with Kerala Tourism’s broader efforts to promote the state as a destination for eco-tourism, heritage tourism, and culturally immersive travel. By highlighting local traditions, spirituality, and sustainable practices, the exhibition reflects global travel trends that favour authentic and environmentally conscious experiences.
More than a destination showcase, Lenscape Kerala is positioned as a travelling platform that carries visual narratives of the state across the country. Through its images, the exhibition seeks to present Kerala as a place offering diverse travel experiences, while also underlining the role of culture and conservation in shaping its tourism identity.
