Global aviation and hospitality players are gearing up for a sharp rise in travel demand ahead of the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF), with leading airlines Lufthansa, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Delta Air Lines expanding services to Switzerland as thousands of high-profile delegates prepare to attend the summit in Davos.

The annual WEF meeting, scheduled for January 2026, is expected to attract world leaders, top executives, policymakers, and investors, placing Zurich Airport at the center of global travel flows. In response, major international carriers are strengthening flight frequencies, optimizing routes, and enhancing premium offerings to meet the needs of business and VIP travelers.

Lufthansa is leveraging its strong European network with increased connectivity from major global hubs, while Middle East carriers Emirates and Qatar Airways are boosting capacity through their respective hubs in Dubai and Doha, offering seamless long-haul connections and high-end cabin services. Delta Air Lines is also playing a key role by providing direct links from major U.S. cities to Zurich, catering to North American delegates.

Alongside aviation, Switzerland’s hospitality sector particularly in Davos and Zurich is preparing for near-capacity occupancy during the forum. Luxury hotels, boutique properties, and alpine resorts are rolling out tailored packages that include private transfers, enhanced security, concierge services, and upgraded conference facilities to accommodate elite guests. Several hotels have reported strong early bookings, underscoring the economic impact of the event.

Tourism authorities and local businesses expect the WEF to deliver a significant boost to Switzerland’s economy, extending beyond Davos as visitors often continue on to destinations such as Zurich, Lucerne, and Geneva.

With demand expected to peak, industry stakeholders are advising travelers to book flights and accommodations well in advance. The 2026 WEF is set to once again position Switzerland not only as a hub for global dialogue, but also as a focal point for luxury travel and high-value tourism.
