Victoria is set to shine this September as twelve international and national business events are gearing up to take place.
Combined, these high-profile business events will drive more than 9,400 delegates to Melbourne and deliver $43.5 million in economic contribution to the state and almost 18,000 room nights to boost the Victorian hotel and accommodation sector.
Notable business events include CODA 2022, the World Barista Championships (WBC) and World Brewers Cup 2022 (WBrC) as part of the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) and the 2022 National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) Conference.

Kickstarting the busy month is the highly anticipated NCEC Conference 2022, 4-7 September at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) where Catholic educators will at long last be able to attend an in-person national gathering for the first time in six years. Held every four or five years, the conference provides an important opportunity to network with and learn from leaders in Catholic education.
This year’s theme, The Future is Listening, will have speakers and participants explore, listen and articulate the future of education for young people in Australia. Attended by an expected 2,000 delegates made up of school and system leaders, educational professionals, clergy and students, the conference works to promote and plan future directions of Catholic learning communities across Australia.
Strengthening Melbourne’s reputation as a premium destination in hosting global events in the medical field this September is the unparalleled healthcare event, CODA 2022. Taking place across four days, over 2,000 delegates from across the globe convene at MCEC to enjoy a festival of clinical learning, health advocacy and a celebration of the healthcare community including a focus on fun and wellbeing.
Taking a fresh approach to CODA 2022 format, the program has been designed the way medicine is practiced, integrating multiple domains of professional practice simultaneously. The clinical medicine sessions are layered with additional considerations for communication, ethics, professionalism and advocacy, while the advocacy sessions also relate directly to clinical practice.
Continuing the action-packed month, the eyes of the coffee world will once again be on Melbourne this September when it hosts the highly anticipated 2022 WBC and WBrC from 27 – 30 September 2022 at MCEC.
After three years of postponements and cancellation, the WBC, WBrC and MICE is expected to attract over 14,000 delegates from around the globe and inject more than $15.5 million to the Victorian economy.
Unofficially dubbed ‘the Olympics of Coffee’, the WBC is the preeminent international coffee competition produced annually by World Coffee Events (WCE). Australia is the first country outside the United States to host WBrC, cementing Melbourne as an iconic and respected coffee nation. The WBC competition focuses on promoting excellence in coffee, advancing the barista profession, and engaging a worldwide audience with an annual championship event that serves as the culmination of local and regional events around the globe.
