In a recent shake-up of senior IAS officers, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has announced a major reshuffle, promoting fourteen officers to the Additional Secretary level. Among the notable changes, Mugdha Sinha (IAS: 1999: RJ) has been appointed as the new Director General of Tourism at the Ministry of Tourism, succeeding Manisha Saxena (IAS: 1996: AGMUT).
Sinha, who brings a wealth of experience to her new role, has had a distinguished career spanning over twenty years. Her extensive background includes significant positions in the Ministries of Textiles, Industry, and Commerce both at the Centre and in her home state of Rajasthan.
Additionally, she has held roles in the Ministries of Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, Science and Technology, and most recently served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Culture. Manisha Saxena, who has previously held the position of Director General of Tourism, will now step into the role of Additional Secretary in the Department of Personnel & Training under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions. This transition follows the temporary upgrade of a vacant post of DS/Director in the Department, as indicated by an official circular.
Saxena’s extensive experience includes serving as Principal Secretary Tourism in the Government of Mizoram and Secretary (Tourism). She has also been Principal Secretary in the Government of NCT of Delhi until July 2022. During her tenure at the Ministry of Tourism, Saxena played a key role in managing various projects and representing the ministry at numerous industry and national events. This leadership shift at the Ministry of Tourism and the Department of Personnel & Training marks a significant update in the administrative landscape, with both Sinha and Saxena poised to bring their extensive expertise to their new roles.
