The Sultanate of Oman has formally established the Oman Tourism Association (OTA), aiming to strengthen collaboration across industry stakeholders and promote sustainable development in its tourism sector.

The OTA is structured to act as a bridge between public authorities and private enterprises, facilitating unified planning and coordinated efforts in destination promotion, service standards, and infrastructure development. It will also support small and medium enterprises, encourage best practices, contribute policy recommendations, and foster innovation in tourism.

The governing body will consist of 12 members serving two-year terms, with specific rules governing re-election. The OTA’s functions include publishing research, generating promotional content, and promoting local value addition within Oman’s tourism ecosystem.

This initiative aligns with Oman’s broader goals to diversify its economy and position tourism as a strategic growth pillar. Analysts view the OTA’s formation as a timely step toward sustainable tourism growth, better stakeholder coordination, and enhanced global competitiveness.
