Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraged people to explore Lakshadweep on Thursday by sharing several photos from his recent visit, which included snorkeling and morning walks in an armchair. This could be another addition to his “vocal for local” slogan and could help increase tourism in the islands.

“For those who wish to embrace the adventurer in them, Lakshadweep has to be on your list. During my stay, I also tried snorkeling, what an exhilarating experience it was,” Modi posted on X, along with multiple pictures. The prime minister noted that Lakshadweep’s peace was captivating in addition to its breathtaking scenery. In a series of posts, he stated, “It gave me an opportunity to reflect on how to work even harder for the welfare of 140 crore Indians.” He described walks on the immaculate beaches in the early mornings as moments of absolute joy.

The PM was in Lakshadweep on January 2 and 3 to inaugurate the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fibre Connection and lay the foundation stone for renovation of the primary healthcare facility and five model Anganwadi centres. He also dedicated several projects to the nation.

“Recently, I had the opportunity to be among the people of Lakshadweep. I am still in awe of the stunning beauty of its islands and the incredible warmth of its people. I had the opportunity to interact with people in Agatti, Bangaram and Kavaratti. I thank the people of the islands for their hospitality,” Modi said on X.

He stated that improving development in Lakshadweep was the government’s main goal. “Lakshadweep is not just a group of islands; it’s a timeless legacy of traditions and a testament to the spirit of its people,” Modi stated.
