The Punjab government has announced the development of a state-of-the-art multipurpose exhibition and convention centre in Mohali, with an investment of ₹250 crore, aimed at strengthening the state’s position as a leading destination for business events and global investments. The project, unveiled by Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora, will be developed in Sector 83 within Mohali’s IT City, strategically located near Plaksha University and the Infosys campus.

Planned across 14 acres, the facility will be executed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with Exhicon Events Media Solutions Ltd, which will also operate it under a 15-year concession period. The project will be completed in two phases, with Phase 1 targeted by December 31, 2026, and the final phase by December 31, 2027.

Designed as a world-class venue, the centre will feature large column-free exhibition halls of approximately 40,000 sq ft and 15,000 sq ft, along with conference and breakout rooms, retail and F&B zones spanning around 15,000 sq ft, and parking facilities for over 1,000 vehicles. The venue will also include landscaped public spaces and open areas to support diverse event formats.

The facility is being positioned as a flexible, multi-functional hub capable of hosting large-scale national and international exhibitions, conferences, and corporate events. It is expected to accommodate 5,000 to 10,000 delegates for conferences, support trade fairs with 200–500 booths, and host social and cultural gatherings for up to 15,000 attendees.

Beyond infrastructure, the project carries significant economic potential. It is projected to generate between 15,000 and 25,000 jobs within the first five years while boosting tourism, hospitality, and allied sectors. With advanced design, modern AV and IT systems, and sustainable construction standards, the centre aims to elevate Punjab’s capabilities in hosting high-value global events.

By creating a dedicated platform for exhibitions, conventions, and large-scale gatherings, the upcoming venue is set to play a pivotal role in positioning Punjab, and Mohali in particular, as a fast-emerging hub for business, innovation, and international engagement.
