Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and STIC Travel Group (STIC) have formalized a one-year partnership to position Sentosa as a sustainable destination in the Indian market through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at ITB Asia, Singapore. This collaboration aims to develop engaging educational programs focused on sustainability and environmental responsibility, tailored for Indian students.

The initiative includes the launch of the “Unchartered Sentosa” tour, scheduled for November 2024, which provides a hands-on learning experience through various activities. Highlights include exploring intertidal zones, guided nature trails, an educational Amazing Race challenge, workshops on ocean survival, and visits to Sentosa’s eco-friendly attractions. These programs emphasize sustainability concepts, including the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, carbon footprint reduction, and biodiversity preservation.

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Sentosa will leverage its diverse ecological assets to offer students an interactive platform for environmental learning. This partnership supports Sentosa’s status as the first island destination in Asia to achieve the Global Sustainable Tourism Council certification, further enhancing its efforts to minimize environmental impact across its offerings.

“This collaboration reflects STIC’s focus on delivering impactful educational travel experiences,” said Isha Goyal, CEO of STIC Travel Group. “Combining our strengths with Sentosa’s sustainable tourism model, we aim to provide Indian students with valuable insights into sustainability.”

This initiative is expected to boost tourism from India, a key source market for Sentosa, particularly in the educational travel segment.
