The Governing Council Meeting of Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) was held on 14th December 2020 under aegis of Ms. Jyoti Maya’, Chairperson THSC & President TAAI. The meeting was attended by the members of the council and representatives of the Ministry of Skilling and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) as well as National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The meeting was attended by the members of the council and representatives of the Ministry of Skilling and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) as well as National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).
Ms. Jyoti Mayal spoke about the changed environment & the need of the new skills which would be required both for learning & hiring. The skills emphasised were Proficiency with technology, Soft skills, Emotional Maturity & Global mindset.
Mr. Manish Kumar, CEO & MD, NSDC addressed the council and Mr. Praveen Kumar, Secretary, MSDE, Go.. Of India, delivered the Keynote address, both of which were very well received by the council members. Mr. Praveen Kumar reflected on private CSR funds to be channelised for skilling in the tourism sector understanding the cash shortage. He also remarked PMKVY 3.0 Scheme, the third phase of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana will be implemented to ensure that the youth gets training in new technologies. This training will ensure that the youth of India get a proper and educational job in their near future.
Mr. Manish Kumar and Mr. Praveen Kumar, both, appreciated and commended various initiative executed by team THSC during these unprecedented times under the able leadership of Mr. Rajan Bahadur, CEO (THSC). The council continues to strive towards fulfilling the vision of our Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Modi towards Skilled and Atamnirbhar Bharat. Mrs. Maya! in closing, requested both Mr. Manish Kumar 8, Mr. Praveen Kumar to set up a government task force inclusive of all tourism related ministries namely MoT, Shipping & Waterways, Railways & more to not only skill more professionally but also be the source of employment 8, the reach being spread. This was well taken & was approved to be structured.
Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council is a Not-for-Profit Organization, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is funded by the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and promoted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (C11) with the support funding from the industry members under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India. THSC is formed by the Industry and for the Industry to tackle the skilling of large manpower to fulfil the industry requirements, playing a crucial role in bridging this ever-growing gap. They have a mandate to create a robust and sustainable eco-system for skill development in the industry, catering to all the sub sectors of the Industry- Hotels, Tour Operators, Food Service Restaurants, Facilities Management and Cruise Liners.
