The Ministry of Tourism has emphasized the critical role of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector in driving the growth of India’s tourism industry. In a written response to the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives to promote India as a comprehensive tourism destination, with a strong focus on MICE tourism.
While the development and promotion of tourist destinations, including MICE tourism, is primarily managed by State Governments and Union Territory administrations, the Ministry of Tourism plays an active role in marketing India as a leading MICE destination through various channels, including social media and official websites. Additionally, the Ministry has developed a National Strategy and Roadmap to foster the growth of the MICE industry, particularly in regions such as Haryana and Delhi NCR.
This strategy document outlines six key pillars aimed at strengthening the MICE sector: institutional support for MICE, development of a robust MICE ecosystem, enhancing the competitiveness of India’s MICE industry, streamlining the ease of doing business for MICE events, marketing India as a premier MICE destination, and promoting skill development within the MICE sector.
