Uttar Pradesh has intensified efforts to attract foreign investment into its tourism, MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises), and hospitality sectors as part of a broader strategy to accelerate economic development and position the state as a leading global travel destination. The initiative, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, involved high-level discussions with representatives from the Canadian Hindu Chambers of Commerce to explore opportunities for collaboration and investment. The focus of these talks has been on expanding sustainable tourism infrastructure, enhancing visitor experiences, and creating an enabling environment for international investors in key sectors.

Religious tourism remains a central pillar of Uttar Pradesh’s tourism growth plan. The state is home to some of India’s most revered pilgrimage sites, including Ayodhya, Kashi (Varanasi), and Prayagraj, which draw millions of domestic and international visitors each year. Investments in hospitality infrastructure, local tourism services, and cultural experiences are expected to support this segment’s continued expansion. By improving tourist-friendly amenities, developing eco-friendly accommodations, and showcasing the region’s cultural heritage, the state aims to bolster its appeal to a global audience.

Alongside religious tourism, the MSME sector is being strengthened under initiatives such as the One District-One Product (ODOP) program. ODOP enhances local artisans’ access to design support, market exposure, and technology, helping traditional products reach national and international platforms. This strategy not only supports local entrepreneurship but also enriches the tourism experience by offering visitors unique regional products that reflect the state’s cultural diversity.

The hospitality industry in Uttar Pradesh is also poised for significant growth, with plans to attract investments in luxury hotels, eco-resorts, and themed tourist attractions. Enhancing the quality and range of accommodation options is seen as critical to meeting rising demand from international travellers and ensuring long-term growth in both domestic and inbound tourism.

To further strengthen global outreach, Uttar Pradesh plans to participate in investment promotion programs abroad, including multiple events in Canada throughout 2026, aimed at increasing awareness of its tourism potential and fostering cross-border partnerships.

Sustainability is another key focus area. The state is committed to promoting eco-tourism initiatives, developing green accommodations, and adopting environmentally responsible tourism practices. By integrating sustainability into tourism planning, Uttar Pradesh seeks to appeal to eco-conscious travellers while preserving its natural and cultural assets.

Overall, with strategic investment, infrastructure development, and international collaboration, Uttar Pradesh is working to transform its tourism sector into a major contributor to economic and cultural growth.
