In a major move to strengthen religious and cultural tourism infrastructure, the Government of Uttar Pradesh has approved tourism development projects worth nearly ₹10 crore across three important spiritual destinations – Bulandshahr, Chandauli, and Chitrakoot. The initiative is aimed at enhancing visitor experiences, improving infrastructure, and boosting tourism-led economic growth in the state.

The approved projects, collectively valued at approximately ₹9.97 crore, form part of the state government’s broader strategy to promote spiritual, heritage, and religious tourism while creating stronger tourism circuits across Uttar Pradesh. The developments are expected to improve accessibility, visitor amenities, and destination infrastructure at culturally significant sites.

The projects will focus on strengthening tourism facilities in the three districts, each known for its historical and spiritual relevance. Chitrakoot, associated with the Ramayana and Lord Ram’s exile period, remains one of India’s prominent pilgrimage destinations. Chandauli is witnessing growing tourism interest due to its proximity to spiritual and heritage attractions, while Bulandshahr holds importance for regional religious tourism and cultural heritage.

The initiative aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s ongoing efforts to position itself as one of India’s leading spiritual tourism hubs. The state government has already intensified investments across destinations such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Prayagraj, and other heritage circuits to strengthen tourism infrastructure and attract both domestic and international travellers.

Tourism development in these emerging destinations is expected to create local employment opportunities, encourage private sector participation, improve regional connectivity, and support small businesses linked to pilgrimage tourism, hospitality, handicrafts, and transport services.

The latest approval further reflects the state’s growing emphasis on destination diversification, ensuring tourism growth expands beyond established pilgrimage centres and reaches emerging spiritual and cultural regions across Uttar Pradesh. With infrastructure enhancement becoming central to tourism planning, the projects are expected to contribute significantly to visitor growth and long-term destination development in the state.
