Air India Express has expanded its domestic footprint by commencing operations from Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal, introducing two daily flights to Delhi and one daily flight to Mumbai. The new services mark another step in the airline’s strategy to strengthen connectivity between India’s emerging cities and major metropolitan hubs while offering passengers greater travel flexibility.

The inaugural flights were flagged off in the presence of airport officials, airline representatives and industry stakeholders, with ceremonial boarding passes presented to the first passengers. The launch is expected to improve accessibility for business travellers, tourists, students and government officials, while also supporting regional trade and economic development.

Under the revised schedule, Air India Express now operates twice-daily services between Bhopal and Delhi and a daily service connecting Bhopal with Mumbai. These routes provide passengers with seamless onward connections to a wide domestic and international network through the airline’s hubs, making travel more convenient for both corporate and leisure segments.

The addition of Bhopal further strengthens the airline’s presence in Madhya Pradesh, where it already serves Indore and Gwalior. Earlier this year, Air India Express enhanced the state’s international connectivity by launching direct flights between Indore and Abu Dhabi. With Bhopal joining the network, the carrier now operates around 55 weekly flights across the three cities, reinforcing its commitment to expanding regional air connectivity.

Beyond network expansion, the airline continues to promote India’s cultural heritage through its ‘Tales of India’ initiative. Two Boeing 737-8 aircraft feature tail art inspired by Madhya Pradesh’s renowned Bagh hand-block printing and Chanderi handwoven textiles, showcasing the state’s rich artistic traditions to travellers across its network.

With the launch of Bhopal operations, Air India Express continues its focus on connecting Tier-II cities with key commercial centres, improving accessibility, supporting tourism and trade, and contributing to India’s growing domestic aviation ecosystem.
