The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is intensifying efforts to promote tourism in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), capitalizing on its natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and national parks. BTC Executive Member for Tourism, Dharma Narayan Das, highlighted this commitment during the closing of the White-Water River Rafting Guide and Safety Training Programme at the Tourism CHD Conference Hall in Kokrajhar.

EM Das noted, “BTR’s natural beauty and wildlife make it a prime destination for tourists. The BTC is dedicated to enhancing BTR’s tourism profile and expanding opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sectors.”

He also emphasized the region’s potential for adventure tourism, with activities like paragliding and river rafting already available at Bogamati, aimed at attracting adventure seekers.

The BTC Tourism Department conducted the training programme from September 5-9, 2024, at Sankosh River in Raimona National Park, Kochugaon, equipping local youth with essential skills. Certificates were awarded to the 15 successful trainees.

This initiative supports BTC Chief Pramod Boro’s vision to elevate BTR’s tourism profile and create more opportunities for local youth. The meeting, chaired by BTC Tourism CHD Jayanta Kumar Sharma, included key figures like BTC Joint Secretary Pami Brahma and rafting expert Harish Negi. The programme is part of a broader strategy to leverage BTR’s natural assets for sustainable tourism and economic growth.
