IndiGo is taking a major step in its financial evolution by relocating its aircraft financing arm, InterGlobe Aviation Financial Services IFSC Private Limited (GCE), to a larger, modern office in GIFT City, Gandhinagar. This strategic move signals the airline’s commitment to bolstering its long-term growth and aligning with India’s vision of becoming a global aviation finance hub.
Licensed by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) on June 26, 2024, GCE began operations on July 15, 2024. Its first milestone came with the financing of a brand-new Airbus A320neo on August 22, 2024. By March 31, 2025, GCE had successfully facilitated the financing of over 30 Airbus A320neo family aircraft and multiple ATRs, all leased to IndiGo.
The new office offers enhanced capacity and state-of-the-art infrastructure to support the company’s growing aircraft financing operations. The inauguration was marked by a traditional Puja and attended by IndiGo’s senior leadership, including the CEO, CFO, and Chief of Fleet Acquisition and Financing. The event also included meetings with top global aircraft leasing firms, underscoring GCE’s international ambitions.
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, stated, “This expansion to GIFT City aligns with the government’s vision of creating a world-class, self-reliant ecosystem for aircraft leasing and financing. It supports our growth strategy and opens new avenues to serve the evolving aspirations of Indian travelers.”
With GCE now firmly rooted in GIFT City, IndiGo is poised to lead the next phase of efficient, cost-effective fleet expansion and reinforce its position as a global aviation leader.
