The Kushinagar International Buddhist Conclave 2026, held over three days, has generated strong investor confidence, positioning the region as a rising hub for tourism and business events. Hosted at the Mahaparinirvana site associated with Gautam Buddha, the conclave highlighted Kushinagar’s growing global appeal.
The event witnessed participation from over 2,300 delegates, including 300+ international attendees from countries such as Thailand, Japan, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Nepal, reflecting strong global engagement. Discussions during the conclave indicated an estimated investment potential of ₹3,000 crore across sectors including hospitality, resorts, real estate, transport, and tourism infrastructure.
The presence of hospitality groups, developers, BIO-CNG players, and food processing companies further underlined the region’s attractiveness as an integrated tourism destination. Plans for two townships in Kushinagar were also explored, signalling long-term infrastructure growth and urban development.
A major focus was on enhanced connectivity and infrastructure, particularly the role of Kushinagar International Airport in boosting international tourist arrivals. Improved accessibility is expected to play a key role in positioning Kushinagar as a global pilgrimage destination.
The conclave itself demonstrates the region’s capability to host large-scale international gatherings, bringing together global stakeholders, policymakers, and industry leaders. With increasing investments in hospitality and infrastructure, Kushinagar is emerging as a potential destination for conferences, spiritual summits, and international events, particularly within the Buddhist circuit.
Officials highlighted that these developments will not only boost tourism but also generate employment and strengthen the local economy. Uttar Pradesh’s Buddhist circuit recorded over 82 lakh visitors across six key sites in 2025, reinforcing the region’s growing importance.
The conclave has thus acted as a catalyst, combining tourism, investment, and MICE potential, paving the way for Kushinagar to evolve into a globally recognised spiritual and event destination.
