In a major boost to Bihar’s hospitality and tourism landscape, the Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel in Patna, reinforcing the city’s emergence as a key destination for business travel, large-scale events, and tourism in eastern India.

The upcoming project is a greenfield development being undertaken in partnership with Patliputra Palace Pvt. Ltd., part of the Shriram Ozone Group. The hotel will feature approximately 500 rooms, making it one of the largest hospitality developments in the state. Strategically located opposite the iconic Gandhi Maidan, with the River Ganges nearby, the property sits at the heart of Patna’s commercial and administrative hub.

Designed to cater to both business and leisure travellers, the hotel will offer a wide range of premium amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, specialty restaurants, a lobby lounge, wellness facilities, a swimming pool, fitness centre, and Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle spa.

A key highlight of the development is its strong focus on the MICE segment. The hotel will feature expansive banqueting facilities, including a 16,000 sq. ft.  banqueting space along with multiple meeting spaces, positioning Patna as a competitive venue for conferences, conventions, weddings, and large social gatherings.

IHCL’s leadership highlighted that Patna is rapidly evolving as a high-potential urban centre, supported by improving infrastructure, connectivity, and rising commercial activity. The city’s growing demand for quality accommodation and event infrastructure makes it an ideal location for premium hospitality investments.

With this signing, IHCL will expand its footprint to seven hotels in Bihar, including those under development, reflecting strong confidence in the region’s long-term growth.

The project is expected to significantly enhance Patna’s positioning as a hub for business travel and tourism, while also contributing to economic development, employment generation, and the overall elevation of hospitality standards in the region.
