International visitors coming to India will no longer be required to stay in an isolation facility starting January 22, 2022, if they test positive for COVID-19, but will be required to isolate themselves at home according to protocol, authorities said. The government said in its amended ‘Guidelines for International Immigrants’ that foreign arrivals who test positive will still be subjected to home quarantine for seven days even if they test negative, and will be subjected to an RT-PCR test on their eighth day in India.
Travelers from any country, including those considered ‘at-risk,’ were previously managed at an isolation facility and treated according to normal standards, according to the authorities.

The requirement to stay at an “isolation” upon arrival has been removed from the updated standards. Passengers who are found to be sick during screening will be segregated and transported to a medical institution, according to the authorities. If they are found to be positive, their contacts will be identified and addressed in accordance with the law, according to the statement.
