The Pacific Asia Travel Association has announced that the PATA Annual Summit 2027 will be hosted in Sanya, China, from May 17–19, 2027, in collaboration with the Sanya Tourism Board. The announcement reinforces Sanya’s growing prominence as a key destination in the Asia-Pacific tourism and business events landscape.
The three-day summit will bring together global tourism leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to discuss critical issues shaping the future of travel and tourism across the region. The programme will feature a one-and-a-half-day conference, along with Executive Board and Board meetings, a PATA Chapter meeting, the PATA Youth Symposium, and technical tours designed to enhance knowledge exchange and industry collaboration.
PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid highlighted the strong partnership with the Sanya Tourism Board, noting that the destination offers world-class infrastructure and a diverse tourism portfolio, including culture, wellness, and community-based experiences. The host city is expected to provide an ideal platform for meaningful dialogue and international engagement.
Located in China’s Hainan Province, Sanya is recognised for its tropical climate, premium resorts, and natural attractions such as Haitang Bay, Yalong Bay, and Wuzhizhou Island. The city has been witnessing increasing global interest, supported by expanding air connectivity and growing visitor numbers, including over 2.24 million overnight domestic and international visitors recorded in November 2025 alone.
Hosting the summit aligns with broader efforts to strengthen regional connectivity, promote sustainable tourism development, and position Sanya as a global hub for international conferences and business events. The event is expected to play a significant role in facilitating industry dialogue, partnerships, and strategic growth across the Asia-Pacific tourism ecosystem.
Further details regarding the summit theme, speakers, and session agenda will be announced closer to the event.
